OurCheckList Support

OurCheckList keeps shared checklists for jobs you repeat. Below are answers to common questions. If something isn’t covered here, contact Juvex and tell us which device you use and what happened.

Templates and lists

What’s the difference between a template and a list?

A template holds the items you go through every time, for example “Closing the cottage”. A list is one dated round of it, such as “Closing the cottage 2026”, and that is what people tick. Templates are private to you; lists are what you share.

How do I create a list?

Tap + and choose a template and a date, or use the ⊕ next to a template in the sidebar. Changing a template later doesn’t change lists already made from it.

How do I reorder or group items in a template?

Give items a section (such as “Sauna” or “Water”) to group them, and drag items by their handle to reorder them. On a Mac you can also right-click an item, and Edit → Undo takes back a change.

Can I keep an old list?

Yes. Archive it from the list’s menu: it moves to Archived in the sidebar with its ticks and history intact.

Sharing

Helpers and editors

Tick itemsAdd, rename, remove itemsManage sharing
Helper linkYesNoNo
Editor linkYesYesNo
Owner (you)YesYesYes

Open a list and tap Share, then send the Helpers or the Editors link any way you like: Messages, WhatsApp, Mail.

What do the people I invite need?

An iPhone, iPad or Mac with iOS, iPadOS or macOS 26 or later, signed in to iCloud. When they open the link without the app installed, Apple takes them to the App Store first; after installing, they open the link again.

The link opened, but nothing happens

A helper doesn’t see an item an editor just added

Helpers see the list as published from the owner’s devices, so an editor’s change reaches them after one of the owner’s devices has been online and synced. The helper’s list shows when it was last updated.

How do I stop someone from using a list?

As the owner, choose People from the list’s … menu and remove the person. Then reset the link they had in Share, so they can’t join again with it. Stop Sharing in the same place takes the list away from everyone but you.

Notifications when others tick

When someone ticks an item on a list you share or have joined, you get a notification; several ticks at once are summed up in one. Your own ticks, on any of your devices, stay quiet. Turn them off in OurCheckList’s Settings. If none arrive, check that notifications are allowed for OurCheckList in the system settings, and on iPhone and iPad that Background App Refresh is on: the app needs a moment in the background to fetch the tick.

Someone’s ticks show “Someone” instead of a name

Apple shares a member’s name only when their iCloud settings allow it. Each person can type the name to show next to their ticks in OurCheckList’s Settings.

Free version and OurCheckList Unlimited

What does the free version include?

One template, and up to 20 items in it and in each list you create. Everything else, including sharing, history and import and export, is the same. Lists that others share with you are never limited, whether you help or edit.

How do I unlock it?

When you reach a limit, the app offers OurCheckList Unlimited (1,99 €, one-time). You can also buy it in Settings. One purchase covers your iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to the same Apple Account, and your family through Family Sharing.

I bought it, but the app still shows the limits

Open Settings and tap Restore Purchase, on a device signed in to the Apple Account you bought it with. For a family member’s purchase, make sure Family Sharing and purchase sharing are on.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple; ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Templates and items you already have stay; adding more needs the upgrade again.

Importing and exporting

Use Import from File… in the + menu to make a new list or template from a file, or right-click a template (touch and hold on iPhone and iPad) to add a file’s items to it. Plain text works with one item per line, and a line ending in a colon, or starting with ##, starts a section:

Sauna:
Ashes out of the stove
Empty the water tank

## Water
Pump out of the lake
Empty the garden hoses

You can also skip the file: copy the lines in Notes, Mail or Messages, or cells in Excel or Numbers, and choose Paste List from Clipboard… in the + menu, or Paste Items from Clipboard in a template or list.

CSV files need an Item column (and optionally Section), separated by commas or semicolons. Exporting a list as CSV adds who ticked each item and when; open it in Excel or Numbers.
